A happily busy month

Unbelievably it’s been a month since the launch of Risks … 30 wonderfully busy days of responding to all kinds of gratifying feedback from friends including Facebook posts, still a newish medium for me. I can’t imagine what it would look like without Michael Sharps expert help. Several reviews are in the works, Risks is in almost all of the independent book stores in Toronto including the re-born TWB,  as well in Stratford, Owen Sound and on Manitoulin Island. And we are working on Ottawa (thank you Michael Salter) and Regina (thanks to Bernadette Wagner).

On November 25 Mairy Beam and I went to a play reading at a meeting of The Old Town ART Beat. Donna Langevin’s first play (brave Donna) was ably acted, as well as one -I don’t think his first attempt-by her husband Richard Reinert. The feedback was both frank and positive and it was a great evening. Allan Briesmaster was there. I hadn’t seen him for years and we spent the intermission happily catching up about his Quattro Books and Aeolus House and my progression from Chap Book to Trade Books.

I  look forward to seeing him at my next reading on December 9, 7.00-8.15 at the Beach Branch of the TPL. It’s going to be an interesting and fun evening with Valerie Nielsen from Stoney Creek reading from her book Green Light and Heather Glerum’s poem responses to music and to Sheila Maki’s painting thru’ Quiet Water. I will be reading from Risks and from Shadows Light and there will be a few of my sculptures on display. After that a break for Christmas, family and friends and then working on an exciting event for January 30: Poetry and Dance at the studio of the Pia Bouman School of Ballet.
